Upgrade your Style the Royal Way

The late Princess Diana famously re-styled her wardrobe and the results were often unrecognisably outstanding. Her looks may feel a little out-of-date for today, but the principles are bang on trend.

Our current Princess of Wales is smashing it too. Kate, like her late mother-in-law, is an icon and leader in style (POV). Consistently impeccably turned out, appropriate to occasion, and always looking fresh - no matter how many times she re-wears an outfit. Oh, and what was all that hoo-ha over the Times newspaper reporting that the Palace had announced they were ‘no longer going to share information about Kate’s outfits’? That turned out not to be a thing. Anyway, interested fashionistas will still announce the designer’s details if the Palace doesn’t, and the paparazzi will always show us the finished looks.

3 Style Tips to Style & Love your clothes – the Royal Way

1.    Switch Up the Footwear

Swap out black footwear and tights, opting for nude-tights or metallic or tan shoes, and your outfit will instantly look fresher.

  1. Add a Bright or White

Kate lifted the look of her spruce green coat by revealing Kelly Green at the neckline and adding a matching clutch.

Previously we saw Diana add white collar and cuffs to her tartan ensemble, knocking 10 years off the original dated look.

If you own garments that have alteration potential and you are not sure how to go about it, the best way is to learn how yourself. That doesn’t mean you have to do the sewing yourself – the sewing element is just 20% of the process. The other 80% is deciphering what is possible to ensure your are upgrading your style. Learning the ‘styling’ bit is knowledge anyone can learn, and it also enables ‘fit’ adjustments too (and vice-versa). Interested in finding out more about Garment Alterations Click here
